Print and motion poster promoting a fictional typographic collage workshop.

reTYPE Poster

reTYPE, a fictional workshop hosted by Letterform Archive invites participants to explore typography as a medium for collage and abstract art. Rather than treating letterforms solely as vessels for legibility, reTYPE encourages attendees to cut, flip, layer, and recontextualize type into unique compositions. Special guest Sarah Short—an artist and printmaker from Rhode Island known for her incredible typographic collage work—joins the event to share her process and inspire participants.

The poster reflects the spirit of the workshop by using the prefix “re” deconstructed and rearranged into an abstract typographic composition. When scanned with the Artivive app, the letterforms animate and reassemble into a traditional rendering of “re,” illustrating the shift between expressive and functional typography. This design utilizes type as both image and message, showing the potential that can be explored at reTYPE.
